Kimble “Kim” Lee Godwin Ennis, 57, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully on January 24, 2018 while surrounded by her loving family.
A celebration of life visitation and funeral service will be held at Smiths Station Baptist Church Friday, January 26, 2018, where Kim was a member for 44 years. The family will receive friends from 12:00-2:00 pm est. with the service beginning at 2:00 pm est. at the church. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Kim was born March 1, 1960 in Philadelphia, MS to E. L. “Moose” Godwin and the late Antonia “Tony” Peden Godwin. She was a kindergarten teacher at Smiths Station Primary School for 26 years before retiring. After retirement from Alabama, she taught 3 years at Downtown Elementary before transferring to Britt David Magnet Academy where she taught first grade for 6 years. She had over 35 years as an early childhood educator and was known in her profession as a Master Teacher. She had a gift of communication that was unique to children’s perception of learning. She was always involved in the continuing education path and helped many students in her personal time away from the school.
Her passions included her unwavering love for the Lord, her family and friends, Alabama Football, sweet tea, decorating, shopping, and the beach. She was a member of Smiths Station Baptist Church.
She is survived by her father, E. L. “Moose” Godwin of Smiths Station, AL; her children, Brett Ennis and wife Hannah of Pike Road, AL, and Emily Ruth Johnston and husband Matthew of Smiths Station, AL, one brother, Barry Godwin of Memphis, TN, numerous loving extended family members, and a wealth of her many sisters, and her friends in the education profession.
Flowers are welcome or donations may be made in Kim’s honor to the American Cancer Society or Smiths Station Baptist Youth Group.
