Larry Tillman Dicks, age 63, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, August 2, 2020. Memorial services are scheduled at Golden Acres Baptist Church, 3405 South Railroad Street, Phenix City, Alabama on Saturday, August 8, 2020, 11 a.m. with Reverend (Dr.) Johnny Ellison officiating, according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Larry, son of the late William Cecil Dicks and Dorothy Eileen Harrison Dicks, was born January 31, 1957 in Pasadena, Texas. He graduated from The University of Alabama and began a teaching/coaching career, where he taught at Jeff Davis High School in Montgomery, Alabama and then with the Muscogee County School District until he retired. Larry served as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach during his tenue at Jeff Davis High School. He also served as baseball coach of Jeff Davis High School, where he lead their 1986 team through the Alabama playoffs and became State Champions.
Larry had a big heart, always helping people. He was a member and deacon of Golden Acres Baptist Church and loved the Lord with all his heart. His biggest passion was riding motorcycles, as he enjoyed taking trips with other riders from the church and the local area.
Larry is survived by his son, Brent Dicks and Tiffany of Phenix City, Alabama; four grandchildren, Abbigail Dicks, Brent “Ty” Dicks, Jr., Gracie Newman, and Kolten Parker and many other relatives and friends.
