Larry Wayne Melton

Larry Wayne Melton, 72, of Phenix City, AL passed away Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his home in Phenix City.

Mr. Melton was born November 7, 1946 in West Point, MS to the late William Bolden Melton and Hazel Compere Melton.  He had worked with Mead with 36 years of loyal service and was retired.  He served our country and was a Veteran of the United States Army.  He loved studying history involving the Revolutionary War and its reenactment, he enjoyed the outdoors, camping, hiking in the mountains, and he loved helping others, and he was a Christian by faith. 

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Helen Elizabeth Sparling Melton, one son, Steven Melton and wife Ashley, step-daughter, Joann Sanders, step-son, David Sanders, two sisters, Deborah Harrington and husband David, and Rebecca Spencer and husband Chris, half-sister, Vickie Bane and husband Bruce, two half-brothers, William Melton and wife Kathy, and Ray Melton and wife Darlene; (5) grandchildren, Ashlyn Leanne Melton, Cody Jarrett Melton, Ethan Ard, Marah Bohannon (Eric), and Reece Sanders, and one very precious great grandson, Leo Sanders, numerous nieces, nephews, and other loving family members.

Larry’s family plans to hold a private celebration of life memorial gathering in the Great Smoky Mountains, a place where he had visited on numerous occasions that gave him peace and tranquility with nature and the outdoors, a place he will always be remembered and never forgotten.
