Laura Brookins

Laura Brookins,92, of Columbus, GA. went home to be with the Lord early Tuesday morning , August 27, 2013, surrounded by her loving family. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, August 30, 2013 beginning at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Billy Duncan officiating, in the chapel of Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd, Columbus, GA. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 29, 2013 from 6:00 until 8:00 in the evening at the funeral home . Laura Brookins was born August 17, 1921 daughter of the late Johnny and Irene Quattlebuam, in Geneva County, AL. Other than her parents, Mrs. Brookins is preceded in death by her husband Ira Doyle Brookins,Sr., and a son Darrell Brookins. Survivors include two daughters, Joycine Elmore, and husband William, of The Rock, GA, Renee Johnson, of Box Springs, GA; one son, Ira Doyle Brookins Jr.,and wife Linda of Graham, AL; one sister, Ruth Bedgood and husband Bill, of Columbus, GA; Laura also leaves behind eight grandchildren, twelve great grandchildren and two great- great grandchildren.
