Mrs. Laura Gibbs Myers, 81, of Columbus, GA passed away on Tuesday, December 19, 2023 at Canterbury Health Care Facility in Phenix City, AL.
Mrs. Myers was born on November 5, 1942 in Columbus, GA, the oldest daughter of the late Robert Boyd Gibbs and Margaret Belle Smith Gibbs. She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband George Cleo Myers, and a brother, William Boyd Gibbs. She will rest eternally with her husband in Hampton, VA.
Laura and George Myers began their married life in Hampton, Va. and later moved to Gloucester County, Va. After the move to Gloucester, Mrs.Myers owned and operated two businesses in the County, the Sub Shop and Deli on Main Street at the Courthouse, and Laura’s Curtains on Rt. 17. She also worked for many years as the Deli Manager at the Winn-Dixie. She always enjoyed gardening and tending to her flowers. She grew beautiful roses, violets, Christmas cactus, and many outdoor flowers. Mrs. Myers was Baptist by faith.
Her survivors include a son, George Michael Myers and wife Kathy, of Moseley, VA; a daughter, Tammy Annette Mabry and husband Rusty, of Hayes, VA; a sister, Ruth Curry and husband John of Columbus, GA; a brother, Robert Richard Gibbs and wife Mary, of Mauk, GA; grandchildren, James Robert Myers, Timothy Michael Myers, Laura Nicole Mabry Sawyer (Stephen), Hollee Ann Mabry; a great-grandchild, Lincoln Sawyer; several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
She loved us all, and we will always and forever love you, Mom. See you later.
