Mrs. Laura Jean Lee Mathews

Mrs. Laura Jean Lee Mathews, 79, of Phenix City, AL passed away Thursday, December 29, 2022, at Parkwood Nursing Home in Phenix City, AL.

Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm EST on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Charles Keown officiating. The family will receive friends from 3:00 pm until 4:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Brundidge, AL.

Mrs. Mathews was born June 9, 1943 in Brundidge, AL, the daughter of the late J. B. Lee and Evelyn Taylor Lee.  She worked alongside of her husband in owning and operating Wholesale Tire Distributors for many years.  Mrs. Mathews was a long time member of Lakewood Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bobby C. Mathews; two sons, Paul Anthony Mathews and Bobby Craig Mathews; and a brother, James Taylor Lee.

She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Hope Mathews of Mobile, AL; a brother, Ben P. Lee of St. Simons, GA; a granddaughter, Elizabeth Lauren Gayles of London, England; a great-grandson, Austin Bobby Davis; several extended family and friends.
