Lavon Green Cain, 85, of Columbus, GA passed away Thursday, December 27, 2018 at Magnolia Manor in Columbus, GA.
A funeral service will be held 3:00 pm, Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon from 2:00 to 3:00 pm, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.
Mrs. Cain was born August 30, 1933 in Columbus, GA, daughter of the late John Wesley Green and Ida Sheffield Green. She worked as a Real Estate agent for Century 21 for most of her career. Mrs. Cain also worked with the Russell County Extension Service, where she loved helping families. Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, reading, gardening and cooking. Mrs. Cain also loved her cat, Missy.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse R. Cain; a brother, Winston Green; a sister, Juanita Hartley, a daughter, Brenda Pollard; a son-in-law, Tommy Powell; and a brother-in-law, Jim Pittman.
She is survived by a sister, Mary Pittman of Smiths Station, AL; a daughter, Marsha Powell of Pensacola, FL; a son, Charles Carpenter of Pine Mountain Valley, GA; grandchildren, Diane Norris (Jeff), Eric Yarbrough (Tanya), Chrissy Helming (Jason), Michael Carpenter (Michelle), Sylvia Carpenter and Steven
Gordon (Crystal); 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family would like to extended a special thank you to the staff at Magnolia Manor, West Campus for their love and care.
