Lawrence Eugene “Gene” Owens, Jr., 24, of Phenix City, AL passed away Monday, May 8, 2017 in Phenix City, AL

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm EDT Friday, May 12, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.  Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.  The family will receive friends on Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm EDT prior to service at the funeral home.

Gene was born January 9, 1993 in Phenix City, AL to Lawrence Eugene Owens, Sr. of St. Augustine, FL, and Candy Dianne Satterwhite Bruce of Castleberry, AL.  He was working with Hydro Green of Opelika, AL as a tractor operator.  He enjoyed fishing and hunting, venturing on dirt roads riding in his truck, and he loved the sport of dirt track racing, and the Alabama Crimson Tide.  He is preceded in death by a sister, Brandy Owens.

Other than his parents, he is survived by his grandparents, Cecil Owens, Betty Jean West, Thomas Satterwhite, and Teresa Satterwhite, two sons, Austin Lee, and Bentley Scott, his sweetheart and the mother of Austin and Bentley, Ashley Hale, three sisters, Cindy Jones and husband Darrell, Robin Owens, and Madison Bruce, one brother, Brandon Owens, a host of cousins, extended family, and many caring friends.
