Leon Higdon, age 78, resident of Cataula, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, November 13, 2019 at his residence. Funeral services are scheduled at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home on Saturday, November 16, 2019, 11 a.m. with Pastor Aaron Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
Mr. Higdon, son of the late William Granberry Higdon and Mary Frances Smith Higdon, was born August 26, 1941 in Columbus, Georgia. He was retired as an electrician from International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Union #613 and Fort Benning, Georgia, where he worked faithfully for several years.
Mr. Higdon was Baptist by faith, a “die-hard” Georgia Bulldog fan; Jeff Gordon NASCAR fan; and Atlanta Braves fan. He lived life to the fullest. An true honest man, perfectionist, possessing the personality of “A Lion with a Teddy Bear Heart.”
Besides his parents, Mr. Higdon was preceded in death by two sisters, Sandra Davis and Linda Harrison; and a brother, James Henderson.
He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Ann Higdon of Cataula, Georgia; two daughters, Christy Wilkes and her husband Andrew of Ellerslie, Georgia and Wendy Wilkins and her husband Eric of Clayton, North Carolina; one son, Tim Allen and his wife Sean of Bishop, Texas; four grandchildren, Cami Phillips and her husband Donald of Americus, Georgia, Tim Allen, Jr of Corpus Christi, Texas, Kasey Wilkins of Clayton, North Carolina, and Sydney Wilkins, also of Clayton, North Carolina; four great-grandchildren, Sandy Phillips, Patterson Phillips, Kayla Phillips, and Ethan Phillips; one sister, Tricia Janes and her husband Barry Brown; one brother, Billy Jack Clary; many other relatives and friends.
