Leona Ann Detwiler

Leona Ann Beers Detwiler, 60, of Phenix City, AL passed away early Saturday morning, November 12, 2016 in the comfort of her home.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 pm EST Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.  The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Leona was born April 18, 1956 in Fort Bragg, NC to Aleatha Emanuel Beers and the late Williams Charles Beers, Sr.  She was working with Troy State University in Phenix City and was a Christian by faith.  She had a passion for hard work and a tenderness for animals; she especially loved her pets.  Her family loved her dearly and she loved sharing quality time.  Other than her father, she was preceded in death by a son, Brian McCameron.

She is survived by her mother, Aleatha Emanuel Beers of Columbus, GA, husband, Michael Andrew Detwiler of Phenix City, AL, son, Daniel McCameron and wife Tracy of Austin, TX, one sister, Lynne Murillo and husband Andres of Columbus, GA, brother, William “Bill” Charles Beers, Jr. and wife Barbara of White Hall, AR; (5) grandchildren, Miranda, Caleb, Lucas, Matthew, and Kacey McCameron, three nieces, Lindsay, Katlyn, and Dorothy, several extended family members, and many caring friends.  Online condolences may be shared at www.vancememorialchapel.net.
