Lilias M. Root Rud, age 90 of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home early Saturday morning December 17, 2022.
Mrs. Rud was born August 10, 1932 in Cooperstown, ND, daughter of the late Dallas A. Root and Mona Irene Winter Root. She was a lady of grace full of love and engaging life with passion and kindness to all that knew her. She enjoyed sewing, traveling, tending to her flower garden, and spending precious moments with all her grandchildren. She was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Columbus, GA
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Dr. Willard A. Rud, one sister, Phyllis Valentine, and two brothers, Roland Root and Donald Root.
Mrs. Rud is survived by two sons, Timothy Alan Rud and wife Tracy of Holly Springs, GA, and Steven Jay Rud and wife Kelly of Smiths Station, AL, three precious grandchildren, Katelyn Elizabeth Peters Rud, William Dallas Rud, and Matthew Edwin Rud along with numerous other loving family members, friends and her loving church family.
A celebration of life memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Pastor Brad Arnholt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Wednesday at the funeral home in Phenix City. A private interment will be held at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.
