Lillian Turner Hemby, 91, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Monday, August 29, 2016 while surrounded by family in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Thursday, September 1, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Joe Strickland officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.
Mrs. Hemby was born June 15, 1925 in Hatchechubbee, AL to Charlie Byron Turner and Mary Emma Braswell Turner. She was retired from Sunshine Biscuits in Columbus, GA and a Methodist by faith. She was a former member of the Eastern Star and enjoyed cooking, outdoor yard activities, and was an avid reader. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters.
She is survived by her children, Sherry Ann Bodiford and husband Eugene, and Danny Lee Hemby, grandchildren, Lori Castleberry, Tina Parkman (Doug), and Nancy May; great grandchildren, Jeremy Castleberry, Matthew Castleberry, Sherry Childs, Charla Grizzle, Grace Ann Merritt, Tracey Merritt, Richard Merritt, and Amber Robertson, and numerous great great grandchildren, a very special niece, Flossie Mordic and great nephew, Byron Frost along with a host of other nieces and nephews and many caring friends.
