Linda Frances Whatley Groff, 72, of Phenix City, AL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 31, 2016, in Dadeville, AL in her daughter’s home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am EST, on Thursday, February 4, 2016, at Lakewood Baptist Church with Dr. Ray Cummings officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 pm EST at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.
Ms. Groff was born on November 2, 1943, in Columbus, GA, the daughter of the late N B Whatley and Margaret Ann Nichols Whatley. She retired as a nurse, having worked for Cobb Hospital, Hughston Sports Clinic and St. Francis Hospital. Linda was part of the Amen Choir at Lakewood Baptist Church and a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. Her joy was her church, family, friends and all her dear grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by three children, Susan Groff Grimes, husband Shane of Dadeville, AL, John Michael Groff, wife Angela of Joplin, MO and Steven Daniel Groff, wife Torill of Roswell, GA; three brothers, Frank Whatley, wife Bobbye of Gunbarrel, TX, Jimmy Whatley, wife Nell of Salem, AL and Michael Whatley, wife Carol of Mabank, TX; seven grandchildren, John Daniel Groff, wife Angie, Katie Grimes, Patrick Grimes, Elizabeth Grimes, Hannah Grimes, Paige Groff and Olivia Groff; three great grandchildren, Zack, Jace and McKenna Groff; numerous extended family members, church families of Golden Acres Baptist Church, Lakewood Baptist Church, Lake Pointe Baptist Church (Dadeville), and many caring friends.
