Linda Gail Whittle Hill, 79, of Smiths Station, AL passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, April 6, 2016 in the comfort of her home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EDT Saturday, April 8, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EDT at the funeral home.
Linda was born June 16, 1937 in Yarbro, AR to the late George Cleveland Whittle and Mary Phoebe Yarbro Whittle. She was the co-owner of Jo-Lin’s Restaurant for many years, and later owned and operated Linda’s Restaurant in Smiths Station. She enjoyed visiting Biloxi, cooking, her many friendships, and loved people and the genuine fellowship that was shared each day. She was a lady of great character. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by six sisters, and five brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Sally Dobbins McGuire and husband Clint of Phenix City, AL, son, Charles “Scott” Dobbins of Smiths Station, AL, two sisters, Bobbie Bray and husband S.D., and Betty Moody, all of Blytheville, AR, three grandchildren, Samantha Childers (Michael), Trey Chambless (fiancé, Christa), and Hannah Mason (Nichole), four great grandchildren, Mercedes Childers, Dani Childers, Kahlen Mason, and Jackson Mason, a host of nieces and nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
