Lisbeth Betty Alvis

Lisbeth Betty Alvis, 87, of Smiths Station, AL, passed away on Thursday, May 12, 2016, at Columbus Hospice in Columbus, GA.

A funeral service will be held at 1:00pm EST, on Tuesday, May 17, 2016, at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.  Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Tuesday from 12:00 noon until 1:00 pm, one hour prior to the service.

Betty was born November 19, 1928 in Braunschweig, Germany, daughter of the late Karl Gustau Hausler and Anna Hausler.  She worked for many years as a nurse for the Red Cross.  Betty became a US citizen in 1963 and enjoyed living in Smiths Station.  She was also a great artist.

Betty is survived by her loving husband of 56 years Waymond L. Alvis of Smiths Station, AL; one sister, Kathe Kaese of Germany; two nephews, Achim Kaese of Germany and Steve Alvis of Kingsport, TN; numerous friends.
