Now resting in the arms of Jesus, so dearly loved and so deeply missed, Lois Quattlebaum, 93, of Columbus, GA passed away with grace and in peace on November 23, 2016. Lois, the daughter of Van Buren, Sr. and Virginia Dollar, was born in Whigham, GA in 1923.
Reunited with her husband and love of her life, J.D. Quattlebaum, and six mischievous brothers who kept her in constant laughter (Van Jr., WJ, Ray, Marvin, Mac, and Charles) she will be forever remembered as a strong and dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who tirelessly exemplified her Christian faith through service to others. After retiring from Fieldcrest Mills, her days were filled with friends, family, her favorite hymns, prayers and bible verses as well as dozens of phone calls in dedication to her church's prayer chain. Inside every Bible she owned, she taped a card that prompted: "If I knew that today was the last day of my life, I would ________."
Blessed with the many fond memories of her loving nature, fiercely independent spirit, and unrivaled home cooking are her daughter, Linda Zairis of Columbus, GA; a son and daughter-in-law in Phenix City, AL; grand-daughters (Cherrylyn Simmons of Fall River, MA and Melanie Pickett of Atlanta, GA and her husband, David); seven great-granddaughters (Hope Simmons of Columbus, GA; Laine Pena of Anderson, SC and her husband, Alex; Hailey, Skye, Kendra and Kileigh Robertson of Fall River, MA; Millie Pickett of Atlanta, GA) and one great-grandson (Mason Pickett of Atlanta, GA). She is also survived by countless nieces and nephews and her dear sister whom she greatly adored, Monteen Carpenter of Ft. White, FL.
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
A private family burial will be held on November 26, 2016. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Temple Assembly of God in Columbus, GA.
