Louis “Lou” Frank Morgan

March 14, 1937 — July 16, 2023

Louis “Lou” Frank Morgan, age 86, resident of Valley, Alabama and former resident of Columbus, Georgia passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2023 at East Alabama Medical Center.  Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Georgia on Monday, July 24, 2023, 11 a.m. with Reverend Mike Reeves officiating.  Interment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior on Monday, July 24, 2023 from 10-11 a.m.

Mr. Morgan, son of the late Louis Carl Morgan and Ella Alberta Morgan, was born March 14, 1937 in Beaver, Pennsylvania.  He was a veteran of the United States Air Force, serving his country honorably for over eight years.  After leaving the military, he began a career in radio, where he worked at KXOA in Sacramento, California. Mr. Morgan later transitioned into television and moved into the Columbus area where he worked at WTVM Channel 9, as the Business Manager.  After several years in television, he started a new career in Civil Service at Fort Benning, faithfully working at Martin Army until he retired.  After retirement, he helped the maintenance staff at Bull Creek Golf Course, and when he wasn’t working at the course, others would see him playing golf as he was known to be an avid golfer.

Mr. Morgan also enjoyed being at home working and landscaping his yard.  He enjoyed traveling, particularly traveling to Ohio where he would help work at the family farm with his brother.  Most of all, he always looked forward to spending quality time with his family.  The family remembers him as a humble man, demonstrating love to everyone, one who loved the outdoors and the adventures thereof.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Shirley Redmon; and two brothers, Ralph Morgan and Cliff Morgan.

Mr. Morgan is survived by two daughters, Ellen Ballard of Valley, Alabama and Amy Morgan Estep of Alvarado, Texas; two sons, Kerry Morgan and Frank Morgan, both residents of Texas; three step-daughters, Linda Mosely of Columbus, Aprille Smith of Smiths Station, Alabama, and Julie Forrest of Columbus; a sister, Doris Borrelli; several grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
