Louise Bennett

Louise Bennett, 89, of Columbus, GA, passed away peacefully at Creekside Senior Living in Pensacola, FL with her family by her side Tuesday, August 4, 2015. The family will receive friends Thursday, August 13, 2015 from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Rd. Columbus, GA, 31907. A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 14, 2015 beginning at 11:00 A.M. EST at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA. 31907; followed by an Interment Service at the Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, AL.

Louise Bennett was born March 18, 1926 in Lithonia, GA. Daughter of the late Roosevelt Tanner and Ella Lyons. Louise shared a passion for gardening, attending church services/activities, listening to music, cooking/baking for family and friends and she was an accomplished seamstress, her true love. Louise was married to the Charlie W. Bennett of Decatur, GA and travelled the world supporting her husband and the nation as a military spouse for over 40 years. She provided a loving home where she helped to raise six children. Her acts of love and kindness extended to help raise four of her Grandchildren and provided day care for multiple children in her home. She was an active member of the Mt. Pilgrim Baptist Church in Columbus, GA for decades. Louise Tanner Bennett will be remembered as a devoted Wife, loving Mother, an adored Grandmother/Great-Grandmother, Sister, caring friend and a blessing that touched so many lives.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by her dearest husband Charlie W. Bennett; Daughters Mary L. Bennett and Glenda Bennett; Grandson Asa Bennett and two Brothers.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, Daughter Josephine Bennett; Sons, Charlie S. Bennett, Willie J. Bennett and Glenn Bennett; and Grandchildren Andre Bennett, Amario Bennett, Alan Bennett, Ashlee Bennett, Ayron Bennett, and Stephen Bennett; six Bennett Great Grandchildren and countless other loving family and friends.
