Louise W. Morris, 95, of Columbus died February 13 in Marietta, GA. A memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Columbus on February 22 at 11:00a.m. Dr. Jimmy Elder will be officiating. The family will receive visitors in the chapel at 10:00a.m. Burial was at Park Hill Cemetery. A resident of Columbus for most of her life, Mrs. Morris was born on January 26, 1919 in Roanoke, Alabama, the daughter of Carl Weaver and Annie Liles Weaver. She was married to Dorsey F. Morris on June 5, 1938. Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband and by sisters Mary Alma Weaver Quarles and Sue Weaver Cooper Fife. Mrs. Morris graduated from Columbus High School in 1936. She worked at Kirven's Department Store from 1937 to 1942, originating “Kitty Kay,” the Kirven's personal shopper. She hosted a local radio program, “Coffee at the Goo-Goo,” and served as news director for WDAK-TV and WDAK radio. In addition, Mrs. Morris was sales manager for WDAK and WGBA radio. She was the organizer and first president of the Columbus chapter of AWRT (American Women in Radio and Television). In 1957 she was selected by AWRT as one of the top ten women in the field of radio and television. In 1971 she joined her husband at Dorsey Morris Decorators, becoming a partner in 1979. Mrs. Morris was a member of First Baptist Church in Columbus. She is survived by her son, Dorsey F. Morris Jr. and daughter-in-law, Phyllis S. Morris of Woodstock GA; granddaughter Mary Louise Morris of Acworth, GA; grandson Dorsey F. Morris III, his wife Kaitlyn Morris, and great grandson Elijah F. Morris, all of Swanville ME; granddaughter Melissa Morris Barsh and her husband William A. Barsh, great granddaughters Caroline M. Barsh and Georgia L. Barsh, and great grandson William F. Barsh, all of Woodstock GA; and nieces and nephews.
