Louise Wilkes Johnson, 93, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Parkwood Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EDT, on Thursday, September 25, 2014, at Vance Memorial Chapel, with Reverend Robert Goodman and Reverend Jimmie Hobbs officiating. Interment will be at Parkhill Cemetery and the family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Johnson was born on February 13, 1921, in Macon County, GA, the daughter of the late Theron and Esther Wilkes. She worked as a residential manager and bookkeeper for various businesses and was a member of Summerville Baptist Church. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of VFW of Columbus and the last living settler of Pine Mountain Valley, GA.
Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Elvin Green Johnson; daughter, Martha Johnson Powell; brothers, Harold Wilkes, Fred Wilkes, Billy Joe Wilkes, Dale Wilkes, and Robert Wilkes.
She is survived by her daughter, Regina Johnson Cain, husband George; 2 sons, Elvin Benjamin Johnson, wife Eleanor, and Theron Yancey Johnson, all of Phenix City, AL; sister, Lillian Johnson; 2 brothers, Theron Wilkes and Douglas Wilkes; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren; many extended family members and caring friends.
Flowers are welcome or donation may be made to the American Cancer Society in Mrs. Johnson's honor.
