Ltc (Retired) Robert Harold Raab

LTC (Retired) Robert Harold Raab, 80, of Smiths, AL passed away Friday, November 25, 2016 at Midtown Medical Center in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm Friday, December 2, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City.  Interment with full Military Honors will follow at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

LTC (Retired) Raab was born August 11, 1936 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin to the late Carl and Viola Raab.  He served as Deputy Inspector General at Fort Benning, GA.  He served our country and was retired from the United States Army with 55 years of service.  He was a member of the American Legion, NRA, enjoyed hunting, the outdoors, Auburn Football, an avid Green Bay Packers fan, and the all-time handy man and genuine “Mr. Fix It”. He was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church in Phenix City and cherished life to its fullest. Other than his parents, a son, Philip Duchaj, brothers, Howard, Carl, Thomas, and John, Sisters, Catherine, Geraldine, and Beverly preceded him in death.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Teresa “Terri” Allen Raab, two daughters, Julie Hansen (Mark), Carly Reeves (Chris), one son, Robert H. "Bobby" Raab, II, (7) grandchildren, Lindsey, Stephanie, Erin, Tyler, Hunter, Fallon, and Lauren; several precious great grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, other loving family members, and many caring friends.  Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to the Wreaths Across America for the Ft.
