A celebration of life memorial service will be held 2:00 pm EST Saturday, February 27, 2016, at The First Presbyterian Church of Phenix City with Rev. Taylor Brown officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service on Saturday at the church.

A true southern lady, Mrs. Mullis was born June 27, 1925 in Clarksdale, MS to John Erwin Kuykendall and Mary Laverne Ellett Kuykendall.  After 18 years of teaching, she retired from the Phenix City School System.  She received her undergraduate degree from The University of Alabama, where she was a member of the Delta Delta Delta Sorority, and master's degree from Auburn University. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling, cooking, needlework, Alabama Crimson Tide football, and the Atlanta Braves, had a very special talent for playing the organ, and especially loved sharing family time.  She attended First Presbyterian Church of Phenix City and was passionate about loving all people.

Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 26 years, Edward Emanuel Mullis, Judge James Howard Caldwell, the father of her children, and her sister, Marie Steele.

She is survived by her children, Carol Lee Caldwell (Stuart Edmondson) of Alpharetta, GA, James Kirk Caldwell (Twana) of Evans, GA, Mary Katherine "Kathi" Segrest (Phil) of Opelika, AL, step-son, Frank Mullis (Mary Allison) of Aiken SC, grandson, Austin Bryant Caldwell, several nieces, nephews, extended family and many caring friends.
