Lucille Prescott Wood, 93, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully Saturday evening, January 10, 2015 at Phenix City Health Care. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EST Tuesday, January 13, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Dr. Ray Cummings officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Mrs. Wood was born December 12, 1921 in Coffee County, AL to Homer Prescott and Sara Smith Prescott. She was a retired inspector for the Sewing Machine Company and was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother who was deeply devoted to her faith and family. She enjoyed gardening and working with her flowers. She was a lady of great character. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Perry Nelson and her second husband, Olin “Sonny” Wood, two daughters, Christine Dwyer and Donnis Nelson, sister, Dixie Lee Crocker, and two brothers, Joe Prescott and Alton Prescott. She is survived by four daughters, Margie Waller, Linda Griffin and husband Jimmy, Thelma Taylor and husband Earl all of Phenix City, AL, and Sherry Chandler and husband Victor of Smiths Station, AL; five step-children, Morgan Wood, Myra Wood Delay, Nathan Wood, Ronald Wood, and Linda Wood Landeche, (11) grandchildren, (18) great grandchildren, (7) great great grandchildren, numerous step-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren, many other loving family members, and many caring friends.
