Major Betty Louse Barnett Gordon, 85, of Salem, AL passed away on Sunday, February 26, 2017 in the comfort of her home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm EST Thursday, March 2, 2017 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Major Jack Butler officiating. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home. Her beloved grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Gordon was born November 14, 1931 in Kinston, NC to the late Baswell “Bee” Barnett and Glennie Whaley Barnett. She served with the Salvation Army as Officer and Ordained Minister for over 50 years. She was a member of the Rotary Club and had been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship. She also was a member of the Russell County Historical Society. The two things in her life that were the most important to her was spending time with her family and bringing all of God’s people together in love. She enjoyed nature, music, poetry and the study of theology. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Callie Norman, Grace Smith, and Carol Jean Davis, and four brothers, J. Baswell Barnett, Bryant C Barnett, E.C. Barnett, and Linwood Earl Barnett.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Frank V. Gordon, Sr., children, Frank V. Gordon, Jr. and wife Joan, Linda Dianne Fleitas and husband Charles, Donna Susanne Fleitas and husband Manuel, Victor Fredrick Gordon and wife Lori, and Jonathan Phillip Gordon and wife Amanda, two sisters, Esther Burkett, and Jacqueline Hill and husband Gary, one brother, Thomas Ray Barnett and wife Melissa; (11) grandchildren, Charles Fleitas, II (Jessica), Victoria Gordon Damaso (Sam), Francis H. Fleitas, Rebekah Gordon Markum (Ray), Joshua B. Fleitas, Jacqueline Fleitas Strickland (Jake), James Daniel Gordon, Caitin Gordon, J. Andrew Gordon, Owen Jenkins, and Elijah Jenkins, (7) great grandchildren, Kassidy Markum, Riley Markum, Abigail Damaso, Nicholas Damaso, Charles Fleitas, III, Elena Lisette Fleitas, and Lucas P.
