Malcolm R. Campbell, 81, of Phenix City, AL passed away July 15, 2020 at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Hospital.
Due to Covid-19 and the families desire to keep everyone safe, there will be a family only Memorial Service at this time. At a later date, the family, Malcom’s friends and business associates will hold a Celebration of his life.
Malcolm was born in Brundidge, AL on January 24, 1939 son of Ruth Campbell the late Dewey Campbell. He was also preceded in death by his brother in law, William Liddell, II. He graduated from Central High School in 1957.
After being a manager at Bill Heard Chevrolet for many years, he started his own business, Campbell Wholesale Cars. He managed this with his son, Ryan, up until his death. At the age of 77, he was offered employment as a used car buyer for a South Alabama Dealership.
Malcolm was a fan of Auburn University. He was often seen wearing Auburn attire, especially when he was hosting cookouts at his home as he and friends watched the game on the T. V.
Other than his mother, Ruth Campbell, Malcolm is survived by his wife, Sheila Campbell, a son, Ryan Campbell (Rachel), and especially loved granddaughter, Whitney; also his “adopted” daughter, Sonya LeCroy (Ricky); sister, Judy Evans (John), sister-in-law, Gail Liddell; nieces, Carmen Liddell, Tracy Queen (Ken), Tiffany Cook; special nephews, William Liddell, III, Evan and Ethan Queen; grandniece and grandnephew, Morgan McWhirter (son, Kyden), Chad McWhirter (Brianna); several close friends and other family members also survive.
The family would like to thank the Medical Staff at Piedmont Columbus Regional Midtown Hospital for their caring professional treatment during Malcom’s last few weeks.
