Malcom Fred Sims, 62, of Smiths Station, Alabama, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 at Piedmont Northside Hospital in Columbus, Georgia.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM EST at Vance Brooks Funeral Home 3738 US Highway 431 North, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Grant Parker officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 6-8:00 PM EST at the funeral home. An entombment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
Fred was born in Columbus, GA the son of Horace Malcom and Ruth Edna Sims. He graduated Central High School and later began his current career as a lineman with Alabama Power Company, which he has held for over 38 years. Fred was married to the love of his life Sue Sims for 40 years. Although he loved the time spent with family, his most cherished moments were the ones spent with his grandchildren. Fred also enjoyed anything outdoors, especially hunting, gardening, working with his tractor “Rachel” and his dog Poulet. Fred was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents and wife, Fred is survived by one daughter, Danielle Sims of Smiths Station, AL; two sons, Malcom Fred Sims, Jr. and Seth Sims (Bridgette) both of Phenix City, AL; a daughter in love Kendra Sims; three sisters, Susan Ingram (Keith) of Phenix City, AL, Jill Boyette (Mike) of Phenix City, AL and Leila Allen (Tim) of Smiths Station, AL; two brothers, Tyler Sims (Ruth) of Phenix City, AL and Matthew Sims (Cathy) of Maumee, OH; five grandchildren Ryley Sims, Avery Sims, Jayden Jackson, Bryce Sims and Ian Sims
