Mrs. Margaret W. Grimes, 83 of Dothan, AL and formerly of Phenix City, AL passed away Sunday evening, April 28, 2024, in the comfort of her home in Dothan while surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm CDT / 2:00 pm EDT, Thursday, May 2, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with her son, Rev. Michael Grimes, and Mr. John Vaughn officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM CDT / 1:00 to 2:00 PM EDT, one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the funeral home in Phenix City. Serving as pallbearers are Anthony Smith, David Durham, Larry Cockrell, Stuart Grimes, Heath Parrish, and Don Wells.
Mrs. Grimes was born November 5, 1940, in Kinston, AL, daughter of the late Frank Wright and Gertrude Wilson Wright. She was employed with Fieldcrest Cannon Mills in Columbus, GA with 40 plus years of committed service. She enjoyed cooking, baking cakes, traveling, sewing, and singing in the church choir. She loved cheering on the Alabama Crimson Tide and the Atlanta Braves, but her greatest joy in life was the love for all her family. She was a member of Crawford Road Baptist Church in Phenix City.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Roy Wright.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 65 years, Loy Wayne Grimes, son, Rev. Michael Grimes wife Lynn Grimes; sister, Martha Butler; granddaughter, Libby Vaughn husband John Vaughn; grandson, Stuart Grimes; great-grandson, Baker Vaughn; nieces, Donna Butler, and Yolanda Austin; nephew, Rob Wright, numerous other loving extended family members and many caring friends.
