Margaret Ophelia Calhoun

Margaret Ophelia Parkman Calhoun, 92, of Pittsview, AL and formally of Phenix City passed away peacefully early Monday morning, October 15, 2018 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST on Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church in Cottonton, AL with Pastor Steve Vann officiating.  Interment will follow in church cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Saturday October 27, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 pm EST, two hours prior to service at the church.

Mrs. Calhoun was born August 1, 1926 in Americus, GA and was the daughter of the late Albert Boykin Parkman and Quilla Ophelia Brinkley Parkman.  She worked as an administrative clerk with the Eagle and Phenix Mills and was retired with 30 years of service.  She enjoyed traveling, visiting friends, and spending quality with all her family.  She was a member of Mr. Lebanon Baptist Church in Cottonton. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John Wesley Calhoun, Sr., one son Don Calhoun, and several brothers and sisters.

She is survived by one daughter, Sue Morris and husband Dave of Greenville, SC; son, John Wesley Calhoun, Jr. and wife Andrea of  Pittsview, AL, one sister, Joyce Gonzales of Rosemead, CA; daughter-in-law Mary Ann Calhoun of Columbus, GA; grandchildren, Brad Calhoun, Hope Johnson, Wes Calhoun, Garet Hayes, Jenny Andrews (Mark), Allison Lecerf (Johan), April Robinson (Greg), and Ben Morris (Cindy); (14) great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, extended family members and many caring friends.
