Margie Wetherbee Jones, 76, of Smiths Station, AL died at her home on Thursday, June 17, 2021.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM (EST) on Friday, June 25, 2021, in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery with Elder Ed Gierok officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. A visitation will be held on Thursday from 6-8 PM (EST) at the funeral home.
Mrs. Jones was born February 26, 1945, in Erie, PA daughter of the late John Wetherbee and Helen Quickle Wetherbee Wasielwski. She was a great wife, mother and grandmother. Ms. Margie had operated Jones Day Care for several years in Smiths Station, something that was her passion in life. She enjoyed touching the lives of the little ones entrusted to her care. We will miss her in our daily routine, but she will always be remembered fondly for all the happy times we shared with her.
Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Frances Turley, and infant son, Ricky Humes.
Survivors include her husband of 46 years, Alton Jones, Smiths Station, AL; five children, Tammy Watson, CA, Fred Humes, IN, Frances Gierok (Ed), OR, Dawn Fox, SC and Margaret White (Garrett), KY; two siblings, Lila Szymanski and William “Bill” Wetherbee; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
