Marianne Sterl Hartzog

Marianne Hartzog, 87, of Columbus, Ga entered her heavenly home on September 5, 2024. A visitation will be held from 4:00 pm – 6:00 pm on Monday September 9, 2024, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, Ga 31907 and a Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am, Tuesday September 10, 2024, at Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church, 6304 Lynridge Ave, Columbus, Ga 31909 officiated by Rev. Travis Rigsby and Barbara Starling. 

Marianne was born in Oberammergau, Germany. Marianne married the love of her life, Jerrell Hartzog, and remained his devoted and loving wife, honoring him even after his passing in 2017. They met in Germany where he was stationed as a soldier. She was a devout child of God and attended Kirkland Memorial Baptist Church where she was known as “Sweet Ann”. She loved going to church and praising the Lord. Marianne enjoyed gardening when she was younger and reading throughout her life. She loved traveling to Germany to see her family. She was serious and had a dry sense of humor but was full of love and warmth for others. She was very caring and passionate, especially about her family. 

Marianne Hartzog is survived by her son, Bo Hartzog; sisters, Rosi Hollingsworth, Elfriede Kellner, Hildegard Tremer, and Emmi Marka; best friend, Mary Hartzog; and many friends and church family whom she loved dearly. 

Marianne Hartzog is preceded in death by her parents and son, Jerry Hartzog.
