Marianne K. Jarrell

Marianne K. Barbian Jarrell, 77, of Pittsview, AL passed away at Columbus Piedmont Midtown, Columbus, GA on Wednesday, June 19, 2024.

Funeral Services will be held at on Wednesday, June 26, 2024 at 11:00AM (EST) in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jo Morris officiating. Interment will follow in Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM (EST) on Tuesday evening at the funeral home. 

Mrs. Jarrell was born August 06, 1946, in Laubendorf, Germany, daughter of the late Johann Barbian and Anna Tefel Barbian. She was an avid gardener growing beautiful flowers that she cut to share with family and friends. Mrs. Jarrell also enjoyed the hummingbirds that came to her flowers and feeders. She was an avid and successful hunter. Due to a hunting accident, she sustained an ankle injury that resulted in her being the seventh person in the U.S. to have the Llizarov Procedure performed on her leg/ankle. Because of the success of the procedure, her case is now an official case study for this procedure. Family gatherings were her favorite times. She loved to cook for the family and friends, enjoying their company. 

We will miss her presence in our daily routine; however her memories will live on in our hearts forever.

Mrs. Jarrell was preceded in death by her parents, Johann Barbian and Anna Tefel Barbian; brother, Friedrich Barbian and a son, Robert Schoenegger. 

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Steven Jarrell, Sr., Pittsview, AL; daughter, Manuela Schoenegger and a son, Steven Jarrell, Jr. (Mary); four sisters, Edeltraud Quente (Engolf), Renata Besednjak (Savko), Christa Lasser and Edith Barbian; seven grandchildren, Austin, Sidney, Eric, Samantha, Justin, Joshua and Kyle; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends.
