Marie Hancock

Marie Hancock, age 88, resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at her residence.
Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N, Phenix City, Alabama on Friday, October 30, 2020, 4 p.m. with Reverend Willie Martin officiating. Private interment will be on Monday, November 2, 2020 at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home after the funeral on Friday, October 30, 2020 until 7 p.m.
Mrs. Hancock, daughter of the late James Clemuel Jackson and Esther Florence Hightower Jackson, was born August 6, 1932 in Russell County, Alabama. She was a retired beautician and a member of First Freewill Baptist Church, Columbus, Georgia. Mrs. Hancock was an avid Atlanta baseball fan; enjoyed reading; and word searches. She loved going to the beach, and spent many hours on the beaches in Hawaii while she and her husband were stationed there. Mrs. Hancock enjoyed baking for family and friends, particularly red velvet cakes. She always looked forward to watching the Hallmark channel at christmas. The family remembers her as a lady who loved the Lord, her family, and friends. “GO BRAVES”
Besides her parents, Mrs. Hancock was preceded in death by her husband, Charles F. Hancock, Jr., brother, J.C. “Bubba” Jackson Jr., and granddaughter, Priscilla Christine Hancock. She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Diane Hancock and Penny Lee Taylor, both of Columbus; two sons, Ronnie Steve Hancock and his wife Norma Jane of Eufaula, Alabama and Alan Hancock and his wife Nancy of Phenix City, Alabama; one sister, Linda Parker of Phenix City; seven grandchildren, Jay Hancock and his wife Paula, Jim Bush and his wife Christy, Seth Bush and his wife Tammy, Phillip Hancock and his wife Amy, Shannon Duraso and her husband Kevin; Chaz Hancock and his wife Jamie, and Christopher Taylor: 18 great-grandchildren; special nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
