Mrs. Martha Rainey Burkhalter, 82, of Phenix City, Alabama, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, February 20, 2022, at her residence, while surrounded by her loving family.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am EST on Thursday, February 24, 2022, at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 Highway 431 N Phenix City, AL, with Dr. David Kees officiating. Interment will follow at Ft. Mitchell National Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Burkhalter was born in Columbus, Georgia, the daughter of the late Lemuel Ben Rainey and Edna Lenora Paul Rainey. She was employed for over 31 years at Fieldcrest Mills as a Systems Analysist. She was a faithful member of Smiths Station Baptist Church and was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was member of the Tulip Garden Club, Flower Work Shop of Columbus, GA, and Alabama Council of Flower Show Judges. Above all, she enjoyed being a mother and grandmother to her loving family.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burkhalter was preceded in death by her son James Michael Tidwell.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 43 years Milford Burkhalter; one sister Mary Clayborn of Cayce, SC; granddaughter Tara Tidwell McMahon and her husband Michael of Phenix City, AL and one daughter in law Ellen Tidwell of Columbus, GA.
