Martha Gail Chapman Chavana

Phenix City, AL

Martha Gail Chapman Chavana, 86, of Phenix City, AL died peacefully at her home on Friday, July 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. 

Graveside services will be held Tuesday, July 16, 2024, at 10:00 AM (EST) in Lakeview Memory Gardens with Rev. Stephen Brinkman officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. 

Mrs. Chavana was born February 14, 1938, in Phenix City, AL, daughter of the late John Robert Chapman and Gladys Jowers Chapman. She was a homemaker and was an excellent cook. Mrs. Chavana was well known for her cornbread dressing. She always made extra servings just so folks could take some home. Mrs. Chavana was also an avid gardener who could grow just about anything in her garden. She also attended First Assembly of God for many years. 

We will remember her being headstrong, but full of grace and kindness. She seemed to always know the right thing to say or the appropriate act of service to render. We will miss her so much, but her memories are forever cherished in our hearts. 

Mrs. Chavana was preceded in death by her parents, John and Gladys Chapman and three siblings, Faye Cranford, Gene Chapman and Wayne Chapman. 

Survivors include her husband, Anthony “Tony” Chavana, Phenix City, AL; three children, Vikki Thomas, Ricky Richards, Sr. and Pamela “Pam” Richards; one sister, Diane Pavlick; five grandchildren, Brandi Thomas, Brooke Thomas Turner, Colby Malloy (Patrick), Kinsey Rolling (Seth) and Ricky Richards, Jr.; five great-grandchildren, Landon Harris, Abe Rolling, Charlie Jane Rolling, Ellie Rolling and Carson Turner; several nieces, nephews and friends. 

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Keshun Hudson for her compassion and care.
