Martha Flournoy Brown

February 2, 1930 — September 1, 2019

Martha Chadwick Flournoy Brown, 89 of Salem, AL passed away Sunday morning, September 1, 2019 at Arbor Springs Health and Rehab Center in Opelika, AL with her loving family by her side.

A celebration of life funeral service will be held 12:00 noon EST Thursday, September 5, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Dr. David Kees officiating.  A private interment will follow at Ladonia Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday morning from 11:00 to 12:00 noon EST prior to the service at the funeral home.  Serving as pallbearers are her grandsons, Scott Flournoy, Pate Flournoy, Cody Flournoy, Will Flournoy, Cameron Flournoy, Clay Flournoy, Andrew Flournoy, and Zach Golden.

Mrs. Brown was born February 2, 1930 in Lee County, AL, daughter of the late Julian T. Chadwick and Ossie “Tye” Chadwick.  She had worked with Opelika Manufacturing for 25 loyal years and was retired.  She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great grandmother whom loved her family deeply.  She was an excellent seamstress, and enjoyed quilting, and crocheting, always making special items for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She loved people and fellowship and was a faithful member of Smiths Station Baptist Church.  She was a lady of sweet spirit with a big heart.  Her greatest joy was sharing quality times and special moments with all her grandchildren.  Her memories will always be cherished, and she will be never be forgotten.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Grady E. Flournoy, Sr. and Harold H. Brown; one sister, Mary Stillwell, and one brother, Byron Chadwick.

She is survived by her children, Glenda Golden and husband Jerry of Leesburg, GA, Becky Aldrich of Phenix City, AL, Gene Flournoy and wife Judy of Salem, AL, Tom Flournoy and wife Wanda of Elmore County, AL, Randy Flournoy and wife Kim of Salem, AL, Buzz Brown and wife Kathy of Columbus, GA; two sisters, Nell Ward of Salem, AL, and Joyce Kenney and husband Gary of Salem, AL, (15) grandchildren, and (26) great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, church family, and many caring friends.
