Martha Jo Adams

Martha Jo Adams, age 71, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020 at her residence.  Funeral services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 3, 2020, 2 p.m. with Chaplain Dean Knipe officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service on Tuesday, March 3, 2020 from 12 noon till 2 p.m. 

Mrs. Adams, daughter of the late Joe Dan Dorrill and Hilda Mathews Dorrill, was born August 23, 1948 in Banks, Alabama.  She was retired from the textile industry where she faithfully worked for over 20 years.  Mrs. Adams was Baptist by faith and loved spending time with her family, especially the grandchildren.  She enjoyed cooking for family and friends; working on puzzles; and the outdoors where she spent a lot of quality time gardening.  The family remembers her as a big-hearted woman, who believed in working hard, and always kept going-never quit. 

Other than her parents, Mrs. Adams was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Adams; stepfather, Tom Dennis; daughter, Nancy Elaine Whitley Adams; and granddaughter, Brittany Nicole Bailey.    She is survived by two daughters, Barbara Diane Simpson of Columbus and Bobbie Jean Adams Miller and her husband Mark of Phenix City; two sons, Danny Lamar Adams and his wife Sloan of Phenix City and William Kenneth Adams and his wife April of Phenix City; three sisters, Rita Parrish, Eva Mitchell, and Peggy McClendon, all of Phenix City; one brother, Danny Dorrill of Phenix City; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; one expecting great-grandson; many other relatives and friends.
