Martha Jo Porter Walker

August 17, 1948 — November 8, 2016

Martha Jo Porter Walker, 68, of Smiths Station, AL passed away early Tuesday morning, November 8, 2016 in the comfort of her home while surrounded by her loving family.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm EST Friday, November 11, 2016 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Barry Danner officiating.  Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm EST at the funeral home.

Mrs. Walker was born August 17, 1948 in Opelika, AL to the late Preston A. Porter and Linda L. Keahey Porter.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who adored her family.  She enjoyed spending time outside doing yard choirs, participating in all church activities, and sharing quality time with family and especially her grandchildren.  She was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Phenix City and loved her church family.  Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandchild, Michael Blake Ellis.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 48 years, Nelson E. Walker, Sr., of Smiths Station, AL, children, Kim Jones of Smiths Station, AL, Angela Scott and husband Doug of Columbus, GA, Stacee Guthrie and husband Jonathon of Phenix City, AL, and Nelson E. Walker, II and wife Jennifer of Smiths Station, AL; siblings, Ronnie Porter and wife Deborah of Lannett, AL, Denise Peoples and husband Danny of Beauguard, AL, Lanelle Tucker and husband Gene of Jackson Gap, AL, Mitchell Porter and wife Jan of Phenix City, AL, and Sheila Mancil and husband Mark of Phenix City, AL, grandchildren, Shane Eldridge (Christina), Maloree Smith (Jerry), Tyler Walker (Libby), Blake Ellis, Coti Walker, Trey Jones, Kyndle Harris, Palmer O’Neal, Hannah Walker, David Walker, Brooke Winfree (Stephen), Stephanie Harris, Anthony “Boo Boo” O’Neal,Camryn Guthrie, and Abbie Guthrie, numerous nieces, nephews, and many caring friends.  Plants and flowers are welcome
