Mrs. Martha Jo Kernodle

Martha Jo Kernodle, age 71, resident of Columbus, Georgia, passed away on Monday, October 4, 2021 at her residence.  Memorial services are scheduled at the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 3738 US Hwy 431N/280W, Phenix City, Alabama on Sunday, October 10, 2021, 3 p.m.

Mrs. Kernodle, daughter of the late James Cajah Watkins and Annie Mae Stonell Watkins, was born August  17, 1950 in Alexander City, Alabama.  She was a retired medical transcriptionist where she faithfully worked for physicians within the Columbus/Phenix City area.  Mrs. Kernodle liked animals, enjoyed gardening, reading, and classic movies.  The family remembers her as a loving wife and mother.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Finis William Kernodle; and brothers, Thurston J. Yaughn and Charles D. Yaughn.  She is survived by two sons, Phil Kernodle and his wife Natalie of Columbus and Wayne Kernodle and his wife Christine, also of Columbus; two sisters, Judy Capan of Columbus and Patricia Hutson and her husband Butch of  Linden, Tennessee; four grandchildren, Austin Kernodle, Tiffani Kernodle, Kaleb Kernodle, and Audrey Kernodle; many other nieces; nephews; other relatives and friends.
