Martha Mckenzie Gibson

Martha McKenzie Gibson, 80, of Cusseta, GA, passed away in the comfort of her home Monday, May 11, 2015. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 14, 2015 beginning at 1:00 P.M. EST, at VanceBrooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA, 31907. Reverend William Carstens will be officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 12:00 at the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Parkhill Cemetery in the Chapel of the Pines. Martha McKenzie Gibson was born July 13, 1934 in Columbus, GA. Daughter of the late George W. McKenzie and Lilly Bell McKenzie. Other than her parents, Martha is preceded in death by her loving husband, Julian William Gibson; son, Raymond “Pete” Gibson; granddaughter, Micki Leigh Gibson; and eight siblings. Martha was a member of First Baptist Church of Cusseta. Survivors include, daughter, Judy Liles and husband Ray, of Cusseta, GA; sisters, Alice McGill of Columbus, GA; Frances Dekle of Atlanta, GA; Grandchildren, Julie Rhodes and husband Russell, of Cusseta, GA, Haleigh Rentz and husband Levi, of Salem, AL, Kerri Carstens and husband William, of Phenix City, AL, Justin Gibson and fiancAC. Tiffany Corbin, of Columbus, GA; Martha is also survived by seven great grandchildren and one great great-grandchild.
