Marvin Eugene Brown, 92, of Manchester, GA entered in Heavens Gates on Monday, January 10, 2022 while at Upson Regional in Thomaston, GA.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 13, 2022 at Macedonia Baptist Church, Manchester, GA with Dr. Larry Stegall officiating according to Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL. Interment with U. S. Army honors will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM till 2:00 PM at the church. Due to Covid 19 concerns, the family is requesting that mask be worn for the service please.
Mr. Brown was born November 12, 1929 in Thomaston, GA son of the late William Roy Brown and Jewel Childs Brown. He was a Korean War veteran proudly serving as a Chaplains Assistant. After the war, he began working for a short time with Guys Cleaners later starting his career in Insurance Sales, joining and retiring from Gulf Life Insurance Company after 22 years of service. Not a person, to be idle he then joined Four Points Gas Company in Woodbury, GA as a driver for several more years. He enjoyed gardening, playing horse-shoes, jig-saw puzzles, attending gospel music singings, visiting and witnessing to the homebound and others. Mr. Brown was an active member of Macedonia Baptist Church where he served as Chairman of the Deacons, Sunday School Director, Homebound Ministry and other ministries. He loved spending time with family and friends. We will remember the foundation of faith and love he has laid for us and continue to build on it.
Mr. Brown was preceded in death by his parents, William Roy Brown and Jewel Childs Brown and his stepmother, Rachel Rollins Brown, who raised him from the age of nine.
He is survived by his wife of 71 years, Sara Jean Melton Brown, a son, Marvin Daniel (Danny) Brown, all of Manchester, a daughter, Jeana Brown Lackey and husband Jimmy Dean of Tabotton, GA; three grandchildren; Jared Lackey, Jacob Lackey and Justin Lackey, all of Talbotton, GA; a brother; Ray Rollins Brown and wife Diane of Clemmons, NC; many nieces and nephews, friends and church family.
Flowers will be accepted, or donations may be made in his memory to Macedonia Baptist Church, 280 Wrightsville Road, Manchester, GA 31816.
