Mr. Marvin L. Hatcher

Mr. Marvin L. Hatcher, 88, of Columbus, GA passed away on Sunday, September 24, 2023 at his home.

A funeral service will be held at Vance Brooks Funeral Home, 4048 Macon Road, Columbus, GA at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2023 with Dr. Tim Jones and Rev. Ronnie Jordan officiating. A private interment will immediately follow. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Mr. Hatcher was born on July 3, 1935 in Vienna, GA, son of the late Homer Leroy Hatcher and Edith Hughes Hatcher. He was employed with Synovus where he retired as a Vice President after 30 years of dedicated service. Mr. Hatcher was a member of Britt David Baptist Church.

With a passion for sports and the great outdoors, Mr. Hatcher was an avid Georgia football and Atlanta Braves fan. In addition to watching his favorite teams through the years, he enjoyed playing, as well. One of his greatest achievements was playing on a softball team that went to the World Series. Hunting and fishing were also a few of his favorite hobbies.

Mr. Hatcher was greatly loved by his family. His wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren will always cherish his memory and hold it close in their hearts.

Other than his parents, Mr. Hatcher was preceded in death by his daughter Jean Hatcher and grandchildren Jonathan Hatcher, Claire Elaine Hatcher, and Shelley Danford.

Mr. Hatcher is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Hatcher; sons, Jon Hatcher (Deborah) of Marietta, GA, Jeffrey Brent Hatcher of Atlanta, GA, and Daniel G. Walters (Marci) of Smiths Station, AL; grandchildren Brianna Currington, Rebecca Langley (Drew), and Zack Walters (Bobbie); great-grandchildren Jonathan Langley, Emma Lynn Langley, Daniel M. Walters, and Olivia Mae Walters; and several extended family and friends.
