Mary Barrow Starke, 84, of Seale, Alabama, claimed the promise of Heaven on October 23, 2022.
In accordance with Mary’s wishes, A Celebration of Life Service will be held for family members on Saturday, October 29, 2022, with Rev. Brady Baird officiating. Inurnment will follow at Seale Cemetery.
Mrs. Starke was born in Century, Florida, the daughter of the late William Owens Barrow and Lucille Self Barrow. She achieved her Master’s Degree from Auburn University where she remained a devoted alumni and tiger football fan.
She and her late husband, Warren, lived and raised their sons in the Starke family home that’s been in the family for over a hundred years. She and Warren greatly loved their home and enjoyed overseeing its restoration.
Mrs. Starke was an avid reader and loved her plants and flowers. She loved watching Jeopardy with her son Tom, and it would be no surprise to anyone that they would be great competitors.
She was a long time member of the Seale United Methodist Church. Mrs. Starke was an educator most of her life and served in many capacities in both Russell County Schools and Muscogee County Schools. She was a classroom teacher, English Advisor and Technology Specialist. She also took great pleasure in sponsoring the high school debate teams. She was loved and admired by her students.
Above all, she loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Ms. Starke was preceded in death by her husband Warren Thomas Starke and a son Benjamin Barrow Starke.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son Thomas Dean Starke of Seale, AL; daughter in law Kimberly Bozeman Starke of Montgomery, AL; grandchildren James Starke (Ellen), Michael Starke, Matthew Starke, Zachary Starke, Aaron Starke, Rachel Starke, many extended family members, and caring friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made in Mrs. Starke’s memory to Seale United Methodist Church located at P.O. Box 128 Seale, AL 36875.
