Mary C. Corbett, age 89, resident of Phenix City, Alabama, passed away on Monday, July 6, 2020 at Columbus Hospice House. Private funeral services are being held at Vance-Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, Alabama. Interment will be at Fort Mitchell National Cemetery, Fort Mitchell, Alabama.
Mrs. Corbett, daughter of the late Charlie Monroe Chance and Myrtle Lee Wombles Chance, was born March 18, 1931 in Troy, Alabama. She was a homemaker and member of Fletcher McCollister American Legion, Post #135, Phenix City. Mrs. Corbett was a faithful member of Summerville Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday School and was very active in the Food Pantry Ministry. She was also very active in providing food to many that are homebound through Meals on Wheels. Mrs. Corbett loved to read and enjoyed dancing, crochet, sewing, and cooking.
Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Thurston Riddle, second husband, Earl Buice, third husband, James Corbett; and a daughter, Anita Phillips.
Mrs. Corbett is survived by one daughter, Rita Amerson and her husband Johnny of Phenix City; five grandchildren, Lisa Amerson of Phenix City, Jimmy Stanford of Smiths Station, Alabama, Marlea Jeffries and her husband Chris of Smiths Station, Dee Jordan and her husband Sean of Smiths Station, and Chance Stanford and his wife Amy of Valley, Alabama; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; special friend, Dennis Austin of Phenix City; other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to Summerville Baptist Church, 3500 Summerville Road, Phenix City, Alabama 36867.
