Mary Dell Boutwell

Mary Dell Spence Boutwell, 92, of Phenix City, AL, passed away on Thursday, September 5, 2019, at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am EST, Saturday, September 7, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City, AL with Rev. Rodney Mitchell and Dr. Wayne Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 10 to 11:00 am, one hour prior to the service, at the funeral home.

Mrs. Boutwell was born April 14, 1927 in Baker, FL, daughter of the late Burlie Spence and Mattie Bell McIntosh Spence.  She worked in the Textile industry for most of her career at Muscogee Mills, Clinton Mills and later at Unlimited T-shirts.  Mrs. Boutwell enjoyed gardening and working in her yard.  She attended Crawford Baptist Church.

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by a sister, Nell Snipes and a brother, James Spence.

She is survived by one son, Ronnie Boutwell and wife Myra of Phenix City, AL; a sister, Monette Strand of Phenix City, Al; one grandchild, Scott Boutwell and wife Jennifer of Phenix City, AL; one great-grandchild, Anniston Boutwell of Phenix City, AL; several extended family and caring friends.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Columbus Hospice, 7020 Moon Road, Columbus, GA 31909.
