Mary Evelyn East

Mary Evelyn Arnold East, 87, of Phenix City, AL, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Columbus Hospice.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST, on Saturday, January 21, 2017, at Vance Memorial Chapel with Dr. Ray Cummings officiating. Interment will be at Lakeview Memory Gardens and the family will receive friends one hour before the service at the funeral home.

Mary was born in Phenix City, AL, the daughter of the late James and Mary Greer Arnold. She was a member of Golden Acres Baptist Church and was a loving mother and grandmother.

Other than her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, James Robert East, Sr., 2 sons, James Robert East, Jr and Odis Richard East, and a granddaughter, Lesie Elaine East; 3 brothers, James Austin Arnold, Joseph Edwin Arnold and Jerry Ray Arnold and son in-law Henry Champion.

She is survived by her daughter, Janie Champion; a brother, Effort Arnold, wife Shirley; daughters in-law, Pat East and Celia East; grandchildren, Joe Champion, wife Leslie, Charles Champion, wife Jennifer, Richard East, wife Susan, Jeff East, wife Kim, Lori East Hammond, husband David, Jenny East Solis, Kimberly Wagner, Samantha Touchton, husband Chase, Suzanne Arnold Thomas, Greg Arnold, wife Tabitha; 15 great grandchildren; 8 great great grandchildren; several extended family members and many caring friends.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staffs of At Home Personal Care, Columbus Hospice and Alacare Home Health for the care of their loved one.
