Mary “Helen” Smith Wright, 80, of Phenix City, AL passed away late Monday night, January 28, 2019 at the Piedmont Regional Medical Center in Columbus, GA.
Helen was born April 2, 1938 in Slocomb, AL to the late Coley Trawick and Freda Kiser Trawick. She was a lady of simplicity working with a heart of love and helping to support her family. She had for many years with Swift Textiles in Columbus, GA. She enjoyed crocheting, and handcrafts, and loved spending quality time and sharing special moments with all her grandchildren. She was a Pentecostal faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband of 32 years, Wayne Ralph Smith, a son, Wesley Earl Smith, and two sisters, Virgie Burgess and Geraldine Hackney.
She is survived by two sons, Wayne Jefferson Smith and wife Catherine of Phenix City, AL, and John Robert Smith and wife DeAnn of Smiths Station, AL; (8) grandchildren, (19) great grandchildren, and (2) great great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, extended family, and many caring friends.
A celebration of life service will be held 4 pm EST Monday, February 4, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City with Rev. Lynn McManious officiating. The family will receive friends on Monday from 3:00 to 4:00 pm EST prior to the service at the funeral home in Phenix City. Her loving family will hold a private interment at a nearer future date at Lakeview Memory Gardens.
