Mary Joe Cass Williams, 81, of Smiths Station, AL died on Tuesday, June 07, 2022 while at her home with her family near her.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM (EST) on Friday, June 10, 2022 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jeff Dravenstott officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Williams was born January 20, 1941 in Columbus, GA daughter of the late Rev. Joseph Fred Cass and Mary Savanah Brown Cass. She was an active member of Midway Baptist Church in Smiths Station for several years where she taught Children’s Sunday School. Always active herself, she had retired from Canterbury Nursing Facility after many years as the Activity Director. Mrs. Williams enjoyed camping, shopping trips with family and keeping a flower garden. She was also well known for her homemade jams, jellies, cakes, divinity and chicken-and-dumplings just to name a few things. The values that she has instilled in us, love of God, family and hard work, will always be cherished by her family.
Mrs. Williams was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Oscar Ray Williams, a sister, Martha Elaine Cass and a brother-in-law, Larry Adams.
Survivors include her two children, Susan Pickett (Glenn) and David Williams; three sisters, Marie Adams, Dorothy Singleton and Becky Sanders (Jacky); three grandchildren, Jeremy Pickett (Michelle), Amanda Miller (Josh) and Landon Williams (Heather); three precious great-grandchildren, Kaylee Pickett, Kohen Pickett and Colt Miller; numerous nieces, nephews and friends also survive.
