Mary Kathryn Elizabeth Shepard Matusevich, 87, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Columbus Hospice House in Columbus, GA.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm EST on Thursday, August 29, 2019 at Vance Brooks Funeral Home in Phenix City. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 2:00 to 3:00 pm EST prior to service at the funeral home in Phenix City. Serving as pallbearers are Anthony Campbell, Steve Shepard, Chris Campbell, Jeff Shepard, Richard Campbell, and Mark Campbell.
Mrs. Matusevich was born March 27, 1932 in Barbour County, AL, daughter of the late George Dewey Shepard and Annie Will Green Shepard. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and sister who loved her family deeply. She loved children, and enjoyed cooking, gardening, playing games, traveling, and ocean cruises, but her greatest joy was her family. She was a Baptist by faith. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Charles Andrew Matusevich, one sister, Dorothy Faye Morrison, and a brother, Donnell Shepard.
She is survived by her devoted and loving children, daughter, Kathy, sons Dewey and Andy (Essie), one sister, Margaret Jeanette Campbell, one brother, Charles Eugene Shepard and wife Betty, sister-in-law, Joyce Shepard, nieces Ann Rasco and Shannan Shepard; best friend, Wanda, (4) grandchildren, (3) great grandchildren, devoted and loving caregivers that became family, Tabitha, Ayshiea, and Wondra. Family caregivers, sister-in-law Betty, niece Shannan and great-niece Mary Beth, numerous other loving family members, and many caring friends.
