Mary Louise Davis, 77, of Phenix City, AL died at Columbus Hospice House on Tuesday, July 21, 2020.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 23, 2020 in the Chapel of Vance Brooks Funeral Home, Phenix City, AL with Rev. Jonathan Pike officiating. A private interment will follow in Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family requests that those attending please wear appropriate face coverings and follow social distancing.
Mrs. Davis was born December 01, 1942 in Phenix City, AL daughter of the late Jack Hightower and Mary Griffin Hightower. She was a teacher by profession for over 30 years and even after her retirement she enjoyed picking up her great-nephew, Aiden, from school every day and helping him with his homework. Ms. Mary was also an avid sports fan, especially Braves Baseball and Alabama Football. She worshiped and played the piano at Woodland Baptist Church for many years. We will miss her loving and gentle ways, but her influence will continue to lead us and impact future generations.
Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, James H. Davis, their son, Kevin Davis, sister, Barbara Burkes and brother-in-law, Danny Jones.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Jones, Phenix City, AL; two nieces, Dana Woodall (Mark) and Nichole Hudson (Rodney) and three nephews, Scott Jones (Heather), Todd Burkes (Syl) and Shane Burkes (Kim); brother-in-law, Don Burkes; several great-nieces and nephews and friends also survive.
