Mary Loyce Smith Childree, 84, of Phenix City, AL passed away peacefully on Friday evening, April 17, 2015 at her son's home in Hatchechubbee, AL. Funeral services will be held 1:00 pm EDT Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Vance Memorial Chapel in Phenix City with Rev. Randolph Gillens. A private interment will follow at Lakeview Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Mrs. Childree was born January 24, 1931 in Slocomb, AL to the late Wallace Smith and Nellie Moss Smith. She was retired from Cobb Memorial Hospital and was affiliated with The Church of God on White Rock Road in Phenix City. She enjoyed sewing, arts and crafts, gardening, and cooking for all her family. She dearly loved her family and spending time with her many grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Childree, Sr., two daughters, Martha Rorrer and Sheila Gillens, one brother, Bubba Smith, two sisters, Joyce Moss and Etheleen Jones, and one grandson, Benjamin Childree. She is survived by one daughter, Lillian “Lynn” Etheridge of Smiths Station, AL, three sons, Bobby Childree and wife Jane of Phenix City, AL, Thomas Childree and wife Mary Beth of Hatchechubbee, AL, and Tony Childree and wife Becky of Boonesville, MS two brothers, Floyd Smith and wife Teresa and Terry Smith and wife Marilyn. (21) Grandchildren, (29) great grandchildren, and (2) great great grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many caring friends.
